Why are cats cute?
Why are cats cute? Well in my opinion cat's are everything but cute. There gross liter-box stinks up a whole room, they shed hair all over the house, they cause trouble with visitors and visiting animals. There gross. But yet when I ask friends if they like cats they say no, but still for some reason have a cat in their own house. Many people like cats because they are really curious and dumb but also because people like to have company in their household. Cat's are loved because they are easier to deal with than other animals. They don't have to be let out, they don't have to be fed a certain amount of food and they don't have to be cleaned. They keep people entertained with curiosity such as laser lights and mirrors and are very funny to be around. They are considered cute because they are good looking, clean, small, and soft to pet. In my opinion this is a misunderstanding and if you are debating to get a cat DONT, unless you are looking for the next big hit on youtube.

The litter box is probably the grossest thing about cats, and the fact that they shed, but there is nothing cuter or nice than sitting by a fire in a large armchair with your velvet robe and slippers stroking a purring cat. It almost makes up for how gross the litter box is.
ReplyDeleteGreat point though, I agree with your opinion on getting a dog rather than a cat. I myself had a cat and loved it, but if I were to get another animal I would get a dog. They are mans best friend and I always loved my dog more than my cat.
This was funny. I have met many others who don't like cats as well. I am not a cat fanatic but I do like a good pet cat, especially kittens. I have also had my share of bad cats though. Those are never good. Overall, the general public seems to be much more cat crazy than me. I prefer a good dog. They're truly man's best friend, although they are a bit more reliant on the owner. That part doesn't bother me too much, as a good dog seems to truly appreciate it, whereas cats look at you like they're better and smarter than you all the time. As you said, pull out a laser and you quickly see who is the smarter of the two of you.
ReplyDeleteBen, dogs certainly have their more distasteful and unpleasant sights, smells, and odors--why doesn't a dog count as not cute? Or maybe you are saying that neither are cute? What is the criteria for cute here? How does it relate to, say, a Hutchesonian concept of beauty? Is there a connection? Some people find the independence cute, too. Also, a really independent outdoor cat can give you the best of both worlds, as it goes to the bathoom outside (and thus leaves your neighbors or your future self with the problem instead).
