Year round you can find me in the south florida waters snorkeling and spearfishing at all hours of the day. Coral reefs line the shores of south florida from orlando all the way to the tip of the keys. Coral reefs are a magnificent beauty when seen in person. All the fish going about their day, the coral glistening in the water and the anemones swaying back and fourth.
What many people don't know is that year after year our Coarl Reefs are depleting due to global warming. Year after year the reefs loose color and become smaller. Fish are dying out and some reefs are becoming lifeless. In a single year 16 percent of all reefs were wiped out. Due to "Bleaching", which is when a coral expels the colorful algae inside, coral is loosing its color and becoming less inhabited by fish.
As a nation we need to come together and stop harming our earth with global warming. Many changes are small but in future generations to come their could be no reefs left. I hope that people will go "Green" and use more ecofriendly tools just to help save our few coral reefs that are left and all the colorful interesting fish that inhabitant them.

Everlasting Beiber
We all know of the famous Justin Beiber who was poorly raised in the "streets" of Canada and became something(Rather BIG) from nothing. Bieber started his musical career young with high talent and gained a huge amount of attention while signing about keeping one girl and trying hard in school. Somehow he has changed from the harmless young kid into a typical trashy teenager.
Recently he decided to pee in a bucket. The question that comes to my mind is... Was it to be funny and gain attention? or... Was it because Justin Beiber is no longer harmless and is actually a trashy mean person. Beiber is following the typical path of a young popstar. Right there with miley and brittney and plenty more. Perhaps he is trying to gain attention to stay "hip" or maybe it's just bringing in more money so he can buy more outrageous outfits. What ever he is trying to do is not going to work out in the future. Beiber is living in the moment and rightfully so but is no Michael Jackson. When Bieber's "goodlooks" leave him and teenage girls are no longer obsessed, he will be forgotten as a trashy Nobody.

Johnson and Johnson
Johnson and Johnson (a well known pharmaceutical company) was fined 2.2 billion dollars for illegally selling drugs to increase their revenue. Whats sad is that 2.2 billion dollars is nothing to the Johnson and Johnson corporation and nobody was even fired. Johnson and Johnson was selling drugs illegally to children and elderly people. They should not be allowed to just pay people off for the illegal actions the corporation has committed. It would be harsh to shut them down because they do provide a great company on the legal side but actions like this should not go unaccounted for. I believe that other companies like Johnson and Johnson are committing crimes as well and that large corporations should be looked at more closely. I hope this lawsuit sends a message to large corporations that making a little extra money is not worth it in the long run. Perhaps now, many people will not buy from Johnson and Johnson.

NYC Smoking
As many people now know, the smoking age in New York City has now been raised from 18 to 21. In my opinion, I support this law. Raising the age will not only discourage many young people but put fear in young peoples eyes too.
Ive personally lost 3 grandparents to smoking and heavily support raising the smoking age to 21 in all states. Smoking will eventually perish if the rate of decline continues to fall which will save many peoples lives. However in New York, if many young people want to purchase cigarettes, then they will purchase cigarettes. So many young people under 21 have fake IDs in order to buy alcohol and tobacco. Even kids in states other than Colorado find ways to obtain even though it is illegal. It is too easy to get what you want now a day without any consequences. With saying that, raising the smoking age will lower the smoking rate because it will discourage many people by being afraid of the law. I hope this law will eventually be upheld in all states and thus many lives will be saved.

Pirates
A couple days ago I went to see the movie "Captian Phillips". After seeing this movie it totally changed my opinion on pirates. In the past I thought of pirates as Johnny Depp looking characters. I pictured them as being on wooden ships looking for gold treasure with big beards and eye patches. After realizing that modern pirates are nothing but thugs who have assault riffles and thieve from innocent people, I feel like they should be called "Ocean Thugs" or something like that. The term "Pirate" gives these thugs attention from all over our nation and thats just what they want. If an abduction of two people occurs in South Carolina its lucky to make the city news but if "Pirates" kid nap people it's a nation ordeal.
I hope big cargo ships and other traveling boats with innocent americans will increase security onboard so these "Thugs" will stop preying on innocent people and getting tons of attention.

Government Shutdown
So our government had a "Government Shutdown" which you might think we stopped spending money but in fact the government ended up spending tons money and time to deal with the debt issue. The victims of this is our country as a whole and the wrongdoer is the house and senate. They refused to work together and it's hurting our economy and we as America are going more and more into a debt. The "Debt Ceiling" is set and then raised all the time when we get close to it. The government needs to take a stand and really stand by the debt ceiling and cut down government spending instead of bickering with one another and spending more and more money. The sad thing is, that the people elected and who are spending more than we take in are not going to suffer. Its our nations future and future people who will suffer if this issue is not fixed. The debt is 17,000,000,000,000 and growing every single day. It's time for the "Smart" political figures we elected to make a change in our country.

Biker Brawl
When most people think of biker gangs they think of Hells angels, mongols, pegans, and of course the outlaws. These biker gangs ore accused of crimes of violence like beating people up, theft, and various other crimes. These gangs first appeared in the 1940's when a brawl broke out around the american motorcycle association. The pissed off bikers were known as "outlaws" and now these outlaws continue to grow.
However an incident broke out in New York with a man in a Range Rover and a group of bikers. Many assume the bikers are a "gang" but are actual bikers who just like to block the street off to go fast and do tricks. This was not going to fly with the driver of the Range Rover when he supposedly paralyzed one of the bikers by running him over when the intersection was being blocked. The bikers followed him for awhile until he hit traffic and all hell broke loose. The bikers smashed his windows and ripped him out of the car to beat him up viciously.
The question is "Is it the drivers fault or did the bikers do wrong here?". I would say that it is both people at fault. The driver did wrong by loosing his patience and hitting a biker and the bikers did wrong from the start. However I think that punishment ended when the man got beat up which made both sides here even. Bikers like these should not have the power to run the streets when they please and there needs to be more police protection in the streets of New York. I think incidents like this will always occur. One person thinks they have power over another which ultimately leads to a fight. Prays go out to the Biker paralyzed and the man beat up.

Golden Age of Television
Many would say the golden age of television was during the 1950's and 60's or during the time of walt disney's first movies and the wizard of oz. However I beg to differ. The golden age of television is right now as we speak. More people than you could count in a life time are watching shows in their living room, on their iPad, through their xbox, and on giant flat screen TVs across the U.S. Every person I talk to has a different favorite T.V. show that they watch consistently like their life depended on it. I myself have just gotten addicted to "Game of Thrones" on HBO and can't seem to do anything more productive after a long hard day. Almost every single person I have every gotten to know has a T.V. and a favorite T.V. show which draws the conclusion that 1) If you buy a T.V. then 2) you are going to have a "Favorite" T.V. show or series. Even college kids that I know will find a way to watch a show. If you don't have a T.V. then you use an iPad, If you don't have an Ipad then you use your computer. People more and more find new and favorite T.V. shows and use precious time watching them as if they were a priority. So I believe this is the golden age of television!

Why are cats cute?
Why are cats cute? Well in my opinion cat's are everything but cute. There gross liter-box stinks up a whole room, they shed hair all over the house, they cause trouble with visitors and visiting animals. There gross. But yet when I ask friends if they like cats they say no, but still for some reason have a cat in their own house. Many people like cats because they are really curious and dumb but also because people like to have company in their household. Cat's are loved because they are easier to deal with than other animals. They don't have to be let out, they don't have to be fed a certain amount of food and they don't have to be cleaned. They keep people entertained with curiosity such as laser lights and mirrors and are very funny to be around. They are considered cute because they are good looking, clean, small, and soft to pet. In my opinion this is a misunderstanding and if you are debating to get a cat DONT, unless you are looking for the next big hit on youtube.

Navy Yard Shooting
At first glance you might think that the navy yard shooting just this past week was another terrorist attack on the people who fight everyday to secure our country's freedom. Or you might think that another mentally insane caucasian man decided to bring terror to american citizens for no logical reason. At this point either could be true. What happened was horrific. Aaron Alexis brought a shot gun into the yard and assembled it in the bathroom. He then came out and immediately started shooting people. 12 were killed and some still remain in the hospital.
What authorities do know is that that the man by the name of Aaron Alexis, the navy yard shooter, has had very questionable moments in the past. Most people who see Alexis's past would say he is mentally unstable which is the reason he shot up the navy base and I would agree. Perhaps the greatest red flag with Aaron's past is in 2004 when he shot out a construction workers tires for no reason. Also in the past year he reported hearing noises in his head and saying that somebody was using a microwave to send vibrations into his body to keep him awake. Other incidents reported were strange behaviors such as sleeping in hotels and yelling at a lady in the airport.
What I find to be the worst part about this situation, and the family's who lost loved ones, is the fact that it could have been prevented. Police authorities notified the navy about some of the red flags but the navy did not restrict his clearance nor did they take a closer look. The navy still haven't commented when asked why they did not take action. It's sad to think this could have been prevented if a closer look was taken.

Seria and the U.S.
Ever since the small country of Syria decided to have a civil war, the entire country has taken a turn for the worst but why are we involved?
The corrupt Syrian government has caused over a fourth of the Syrian population to become displaced. Also 6.2 million have fled across the border, 100,000 civilians have been killed, government losses total 13 billion, the economy has shrunken 35%, and Syrian heath-care has been reduced to just 20 hospitals. All this because in spring of 2011, peaceful protests turned violent from the government of Bashar al-Assad and eventually turned into a civil war.
Us as americans have the luxury of being able to do as we please. To feel safe in our homes, feel good about our country, and best of all not worry about our families and friends being killed in a violent civil war. The question I ask is why does the U.S. give over 5 billion dollars to help the Syrian people? The answer is quite logical and simple and actually relates to some of Smiths beliefs. The U.S. government and people help Syrians because we have good morals and can see how bad the syrian people are hurting. We could not imagine walking down the street and having somebody shoot at us. We as american people put ourselves in the syrian peoples shoes and realize how much help they really need. I believe we are helping the innocent people of Syria because if it was us trapped in a cross-fire, we would want them to help us.

Smith's argument of mans nature
The
furious behavior of one man towards another is seen every day throughout the
world. It has become part of our
society and person to fight and disagree with other humans. Ever since the first people existed
until the end of our civilization there was and will be fights between
men.
In
general, spectators and people unacquainted to the passions of the “Furious
Man” will take the side of the other man in danger. Without even knowing the cause of the situation the “Furious
Man” looks as if he is a villain to the outside world. Smith says in paragraph 7 of his
reading, “We readily, therefore, sympathize with their fear or resentment, and
are immediately disposed to take part against the man from whom they appear to
be in so much danger.” As I have seen this through my life, I couldn’t agree
more with how people, in general, will take the man’s side who is in
danger. However, this is not
always the appropriate choice to make. For example, one day I remember clearly,
I was at the baseball field and witnessed a couple coaches of mine throwing a
man to the ground and start to hurt him.
The parents jumped up and the initial reaction was to take the hurting
mans side and stop the coaches.
What the spectators didn’t know is that this man had a gun with bad intentions
and the coaches stopped something that could have been a tragedy.
I
believe it is morally right and our nature to stop violence and help anyone who
is being hurt even if we don’t know the details. However man needs to take into
account the provocation of the argument and realize the passion of the “Furious
Man”.
